Tees, Toasts, Trolleys, & Trick-or-Treats: Cape Cod October Events
October will soon be upon us, with its cool temperatures and beautiful foliage. Whether you are visiting, hosting visitors, or just looking for some quality entertainment, Cape Cod is the place to be in October. There is so much to do, choosing your favorite destinations may seem a daunting task. Fortunately, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce offers an informative events calendar that will keep you apprised of events, amenities, and transportation options.
Food, music, art, museums, and sporting events highlight the month-long celebrations. Golf fans will particularly appreciate the golf tournament held on October 6 at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, benefitting the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod. If you’re looking for an even more vigorous athletic event, slip into your running shoes and participate in the 37th Annual Cape Cod Marathon Weekend, held in Falmouth on October 25 and 26. And while you’re in Falmouth, you can enjoy a trolley tour through downtown and other historic areas, as well as the beautiful scenery at Woods Hole.
Many countries host an Oktoberfest each year, and Cape Cod Beer in Hyannis honors that tradition. This family-friendly event, held on October 4th from 11 AM-3 PM, features games, German food, and craft beer that’s perfect for toasting the occasion.
Several spooky celebrations are on the calendar for Halloween. Falmouth’s Museums on the Green will take you on a “mildly scary haunted experience” as you tour the 1790 home of Dr. Francis Wicks (October 25, 6-9 PM). Feel like dressing up? Wear your creative finery to the Chatham Bars Inn’s Halloween Costume Party on October 31, starting at 6:00 PM, where you can compete to win a weekend getaway in a costume contest. Children will be delighted by the many activities offered by the Heritage Museums & Garden’s Halloween Family Fun Nights in Sandwich (October 24-25, 5:30-8:30 PM), while adults will appreciate Sandwich Village’s “Ye Olde Spirits of Sandwich” Masquerade Ball On October 24, in addition to other features on October 24-25 . And don’t miss Ghost Town, the Aquarium Mall’s haunted attraction in Provincetown (October 23-31).
Finally, don’t forget to take in the area’s premier year-round attraction: the Cape and Islands Golf Shop in Hyannis, Massachusetts. There’s no better place to appreciate the fall foliage than on the golf course!
